Inked in Rain: From Open Mic to Manuscript—
Pacific Northwest Artists’ Perspectives & Practices
Inked in Rain brings together six local authors cultivated from Seattle’s open mics. They offer their unique perspectives on the practices, obsessions, themes, and community building that led them to publish books—each with diverse journeys, all brought together by the love of writing. This curated literary panel includes live performances of poetry and prose. Let’s talk about the roller coaster of writing—in which trauma and joy find a safe space.
Panel: Caitlin M. Andrews, Michael Keen, Rhea Melina, Francesca Penchant, Dario Cvencek, William Murray and Iz White

Collections: A Live Magazine
Collections—A Live Magazine and Public Club hosted by Ariel Basom is a monthly showcase of both live readers and video performances featuring a diversity of positions, styles, and modes: poetry juxtaposing story; literary fiction opposing memoir; drama next to genre fiction.
This live magazine and literary salon exists in a space between the publishing world and the open mic—a third space. A space to present finished and polished work; a space to come together with peers and allies to share fresh ideas; a space to forge community within the walls of the Hugo House Salon.
We create an environment we can be proud of by treating ourselves and each other with high regard by leading with kindness and by wearing our favorite fancy clothes. We are not casually stumbling in but rather we show up as our best selves in order to present our best work.
